Chehan Perera

Co-Founder and Managing Director​

Chehan counts for over 28 years’ experience in managing research and financial services businesses based in South-East Asia and South Asia. Having begun his career with the prestigious ABN AMRO Group in1995, he quickly progressed to heading the research operations in Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Mauritius for ABN AMRO and covering strategy, banks and several other sectors. He was also part of the Group’s equities management team for the ASEAN region.

In 2005, Chehan ventured out on his own and co-founded Insite Equity, Singapore – an equity research house which by 2006, partnered with leading Malaysian stockbroker KAF Seagroatt & Campbell Securities to freshly set up an institutional equities business. Over the next decade, Chehan was instrumental in building this into a competitive and well-respected institutional equities business which established global partnerships with the RBS Group and the New York based Jefferies Group.

In 2016, Chehan was invited by Malaysian sovereign fund Valuecap Sdn Bhd as Head, Capital Market Research and establish an ASEAN research team with an ESG focus which, he completed in a short span of time.

Seeing the untapped potential in the Sri Lankan private equities space, he co-founded Tempest with leading Sri Lankan investment bank, Capital Alliance Group (CAL). In addition to his Managing Director role at Tempest, he sits on several Boards in Sri Lanka. He also currently serves in the capacity of Head and Strategist, Malaysia Research for a leading pan-Asian brokerage house, CGS International Securities.

Chehan graduated summa cum laude from Ithaca College, New York with a BA in Economics. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
